How long does it take to learn to ride pipe?

i ca finally carve and this year ill be going to the terrain parks (even taking a cl on learning diff features) but tht doesnt include pipe. is it hard to learn? do u fall alot, how long does it take to have a run (gosh, not an olympic run,) just barely going into the air but making it down without falling?
