Really, it is pretty ridiculous for fans to hate on any player, because the NHL is the pinnacle of the game, and there aren't fans out there who could do what even the worst NHLers do, or else they'd be in the League. It's easy to make armchair decisions. The people that really drive me nuts are the cut and dry "Crosby is a whiner," "Ovechkin is a dirty player" crowd. First of all, the League is made up of more than those two guys, in case no one noticed. Secondly, people who say those sorts of things don't understand how truly ignorant they sound; dissecting a player's approach to the game is not so simple. If you can't appreciate a player's skill--no matter who he plays for--then you don't need to be watching hockey. I'm a Pens fan, but a lot of my favorite players aren't Penguins, and I have to give players who show up the Pens credit. To me, that's what being a real fan is about... Take last night for example.
